Key Takeaways
Fight Off Flock
@chima updated the rest of WCU’s steering committee about the campaign’s progress. Specifically, he presented drafts of WCU’s petition, PRA requests, and Flock fact sheet (linked here). Here are the proposed next steps:
- Post petition by Friday (May 22nd)
- Post PRA requests to WCU forum
- Proofread and submit PRA requests by Sunday (May 24th)
@ckposadas brought up a public event Mario Enriquez is hosting at Groundstack Coffee on May 23rd with Stockton Police Department. Due to lack of member availability, steering committee suggested posting up anti-flock flyers at the event instead. @chima was concerned about inviting the general public since it would open the floor for Enriquez to control the narrative.
Lastly, EMAC also plans on submitting PRA requests and will share any information they receive to WCU.
Worker’s Voice Congress
Worker’s Voice is hosting their "Worker’s Voice Congress” from May 29 to May 31st. Here’s the basic timeline of events:
- May 29th: Social event open to members and guests alike
- May 30th: Political discussion possibly open to members and guests alike
- May 31st: Closed session open only to WV’s delegates
The goal is to have a handful of WCU members attend the social event on May 29th with some possibly staying for the political discussion the next day. However, WCU still needs permission from Worker’s Voice to attend, which we’re still waiting on.
Agenda Setting
Revisit Tabling
Much of the agenda setting discussion centered around revisiting the "Tabling at Stockton Farm Market” that general membership approved in February 2026. @chima wanted WCU to table at the Weberstown Farmer’s Market (info here) at least once.
@Adri_Martinez and @Turcotte were more skeptical of the idea due to application costs and small outreach potential. They would prefer WCU to regularly table at Delta College’s The Market (info here).
Legislation/Environmental committee meeting
Empowering Marginalized Asian Communities (EMAC) invited WCU to attend the City of Stockton’s next Legislation/Environmental Committee meeting on June 15th. Specifically, EMAC wants WCU to comment on rent stabilization and ICE out of Stockton city facilities (info here).
ICE out of Stockton anniversary
Last month, @aleiva01 proposed we coordinate with Luis Magana to host an “ICE out of Stockton” anniversary. She has now invited us to a meeting on May 26th to discuss the details.
