Key Takeaways
Timeline
- Complete petition and submit PRA requests this week
Petition (@chima)
PRA requests (@chima, @ckposadas) - Reach out to various organizations once petition is completed (likely next week)
- Perform public outreach via flyer handouts and social media after receiving the go-ahead from aforementioned organizations
Petition
@chima wants the petition to be more concrete than a simple call to have city council deal with the city’s flock cameras by having it include a formal resolution that the council can pass.
He emphasizes that the petition should be made public before Mario Enriquez pushes forward his own means-tested resolution in order for WCU to get out ahead of the narrative.
PRA requests
@ckposadas clarified to @Tanner why WCU is trying to submit a PRA request. Specifically, he explains how the info WCU collects should prove that Flock’s data (collected by their cameras) can be used outside of the City of Stockton, demonstrating significant data security issues.
Public Outreach
@Jacob centered the discussion around two tactics:
- Targeting city council members specifically (the liberal ones especially)
- Post “I’m Watching You” signs near flock cameras
@chima added the idea of asking the general public to post pictures of their nearest Flock camera. This would make them feel like they’re part of the process. Also, he wants to focus on the broader vendor platform Stockton’s recent deal expanded.
