Side-Quest: Recovering the Struggles of Immigrants

We were asked if we want to co-sponsor this event and attend. It is taking place in Stockton.

Recovering the Struggles of Immigrants

Public Forum
11:00 AM | Stockton, California | July 12, 2026

Immigrant communities have led important struggles for rights and dignity. In the face of deportations, detention centers, and attacks against our communities, we want to recover these experiences and discuss the challenges we face today.

  • The history of immigrant struggles from “A Day Without Immigrants” in 2006 to the present.
  • The organizing of detained immigrants in detention centers and solidarity campaigns.
  • The current state of immigration laws and immigrants’ rights.
  • The challenges facing working-class communities in Stockton.
  • The organizing of immigrant students in schools.

Thanks everyone, side quest passed!

I offered to take our translation device to the event and they said they’re going to have one more meeting to plan logistics, and they will let us know if we can help out in some other way.

We talked about this at the recent Steering Committee meeting:

One thing @Adri_Martinez and @ckposadas brought up was that if we vote to endorse, we should try to incorporate some of our work into it somehow and the Know Your Rights materials that everyone worked on was brought up as something we could share.

I spoke with the folks now running the CCIB and they said it’s okay that we remove the check in pages - we don’t have any WCU Members working on the booth anymore so they can’t access the information of people who sign up anyway.
