Use this thread to draft and review the canvassing script.
Action Items
Write a script for tenant union canvassing
- Notes: Work in this Google Doc: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1mpBu6Jb-7BfxYmSqF6GltjVCUil_2wUO54yFer-fcto/edit?usp=sharing
- Estimated time: 1 hour
- Assigned to (@usernameusername): @ckposadas
- Status: Unclaimed | In Progress | Needs Review | Completed
Script goals:
- Include a concise opening line, starting with “Hi, my name is …, I’m a tenant with Working Class Unity Tenant Union.”
- Use AEIOU prompts to encourage tenants to share complaints or issues.
- If the tenant has no issues/complaints, ask for name and phone number.
Advice from previous canvassers:
- In the opening line, do not mention the landlord or property manager.
- Mention other nearby complaints to encourage people to open up.
@SeanHun @ckposadas @Turcotte: You have canvassed often. If you want to draft the script, sign up above or add comments or suggestions in this thread.
@Englishpete08 @Sauc3_L1oron_217: You completed the Organizing Conversation training. The goal here is to give canvassers fallback lines when speaking with tenants to encourage them to talk about issues they are dealing with. I’m not sure how, but if have any takeaways from the training for canvassers, you can include that in the doc as well.
