Tactical Shift: Targeting Larger Buildings

New Target: We will shift our canvassing focus from 4-20 unit buildings to 21-40 unit buildings as well.

Rationale: Our previous successes relied heavily on finding a single highly motivated tenant to act as an internal organizer. Larger buildings statistically increase the odds of finding this “spark” person, who can continue organizing work inside the building when WCU members are not present.
Enhanced Outreach
- “Propagandize the Block”: Instead of just door-knocking the active building, we should saturate the area around target buildings with flyers and set up tables during high-traffic times to catch residents coming and going.
- This worked well, on accident, in the one larger building we had.
- Materials: We will create simplified flyers featuring QR codes that link directly to an issue reporting form and digital resources.
Deliverables (Next 6 Months)
- Organizing Goal: Match previous volume in terms of starting investigating a TA but increase actual active TAs to four.
- Resources: Update Tenant Union Handbook.
- Case Studies: Publish specific reports on past victories and fixed issues to demonstrate to new tenants what collective action can achieve.
