I was wondering if we could take a quick moment during the meeting to talk about Reading Group and set a date for it this month? @HipGnosis was asking me about starting up Reading Group again a few days ago. I’ve honestly been very inconsistent with it and have been meaning to have a more consistent time frame for it and try to get more people to attend.

If possible, I’d prefer a date to do Reading Group on Thursday, July 17th or Saturday, July 19th.

I’m still working on narrowing down a possible reading choice for July, but have some leads. @HipGnosis mentioned to me about The Death of the Liberal Class (2010) by Chris Hedges, which I found a copy of recently. It’s also all available on The Anarchist Library for free. If we felt like returning to reading the same book for a few months.

For Reading Group, I’ve been trying to stick with pieces that are related to something relevant to the current political climate or to things we’re talking about/doing internally. Over time, I would appreciate more suggestions from members as to what they might like to read for Reading Group and will try to ask for suggestions from people individually.

liberals failing is an evergreen topic lol

I haven’t seen the Hedges piece before, but seems similar to Adolph Reed’s recent article: Blinded by Righteous Outrage: From the 1994 Crime Act to Trump 2.0 – Nonsite.org It’s more of a critique of liberal-labor coalition abandoning class struggle than a critique of the moral failings of the liberal class though. Might be interesting to see how much (little) things have changed over the past 16 years when comparing the two articles.
