WCU members had impromptu discussion of Flock outreach for this month. This included tabling and flyer events.
Discussion details
@chima proposed tabling at a Labor Day event and possibly handing out flyers about Flock removal.
@chima also suggested WCU host a separate flyer event, albeit hesitantly due to a lack of turnout in previously proposed events. In response, @Jacob suggested an alternative: provide people with our flyers and have them post them themselves as volunteers.
@ckposadas still liked the idea of doing a flyer event but discussed the logistical problems that go along with it. It takes planning for the first few events to get a sense of how volunteers would fit into the picture.

United Front Update
Open discussion on updates regarding the United Front. Here’s some context from the previous steering committee meeting:
We have an updated page that is accepting logos and signatures.
Replace the public WhatsApp item with: public and supporter communications
Instead: Give every active WCU campaign one forum thread for current information, updates, questions, and discussion without asking peope to join another group chat.
Our communication channels should have different roles:
Website: stable public information: the campaign, some background, linked resources, and calls to action.
One Discourse topic per active campaign: current status, dated updates, public questions, and discussion.
Email and text: once every two week alerts sent only to people who signed up for updates, linking to the relevant Discourse thread with action steps if there are any.
Solidarity Tech texting and Discourse DMs: one-to-one follow-up or questions if people have any. We can also have a public group chat there.
WhatsApp: member only chat.
Strike Solidarity Pledge Update
WCU updates the Strike Solidarity Pledge as an evergreen public pledge, replacing the previous Strike Ready Pledge which has dated language.
BEFORE:
I pledge my support to union workers who are standing up for their rights and demanding better working conditions, fair wages, and respect in the workplace. In light of the recent increase in striking workers and labor militancy, it’s crucial for us to stand together in solidarity. If any union decides to strike, I will be prepared to support them in their fight for a better world. I commit to never crossing a picket line and to always stand with my fellow workers.
PROPOSAL:
Employers depend on workers’ labor, but they control jobs, pay, schedules, and working conditions. When workers strike, they turn their shared labor into collective power. A strike can win immediate demands and build the organization needed for fights beyond one workplace.
When workers act together and withhold their labor in a fight with their employer, I pledge to stand with them. I will not cross their picket line or help the employer break their action. I will support the strike in concrete ways available to me, such as joining pickets, contributing to strike funds, sharing accurate information, bringing coworkers and neighbors, or helping meet practical needs. Bosses are strongest when workers stand alone. I make this pledge to help each struggle build stronger organization, deeper solidarity, and greater power for the working class.
