Membership Pipeline (Standard of Procedure for Recruitment)

Motion to discuss the following proposal by @ckposadas about recruiting new members to Working Class Unity.

Proposal: Despite talking to a few people at WCU’s regular scheduled social events, WCU has failed to recruit most of them. @ckposadas believes this is due to a lack of a follow up plan. Here are suggestions to ease the complexity of the process.

  • Group (and tag) together list of potential new members and their contacts via Solidarity Tech
  • Have a standard follow up text message
  • Have a standard follow up response time
  • Have a standard means of scheduling new member orientation if person responds to first follow up

Motion to discuss and approve plan for July 4th parade.

Plan: Since @chima did not turn in tabling application on time, he proposed a different plan for July 4th. It comes in two parts:

  1. Record video kickstarting our Fight Off Flock campaign
  2. Canvas July 4th festival to collect signatures for our Fight Off Flock petition

I would like to motion to add an agenda item on discussing whether to build a “Tenant Rights” info tab on the main WCU website page in the foreseeable future. I feel that having a tab for WCU’s tenant union campaign would be beneficial since as an org we’ve treated it as our main campaign. Since April 2026, I’ve been developing a Tenant & Climate Rights toolkit that WCU could use to incorporate some of the language and resources in it for a resources tab and for future outreach material.
