Last month, @Bozzii and I rewrote the No Votes for Genocide Pledge after read through some of the other NVFG campaigns happening throughout the country. NJ’s campaign here is one such example.
We noticed that California does not have a similar No Votes for Genocide campaign. In other states, it seems like they were able to get other organizations, like CAIR chapters, on board as well. We thought it would be a good idea to try to reach out to similar organizations in California as well.
Goal: Update the pledge language to account for the upcoming election. Reach out to organizations throughout California asking them to sign on to the pledge. If we continue working on a Palestine-related Focus Campaign, we can use these new relationships to build off of instead of starting from scratch again.
Pledge Language
No Votes for Genocide (November Election Edition)
Working Class Unity stands firm in its commitment to peace and the liberation of all people, urging all to support the No Votes for Genocide pledge. The Democratic Party, through its unwavering support for Israel’s aggressive policies, has shown a blanket disregard for human rights and international law.
Despite widespread calls for a permanent ceasefire and an arms embargo, the Biden-Harris administration continues to supply military aid to Israel, facilitating and enabling the genocide in Gaza. At the Democratic National Convention, Kamala Harris’s speech underscored her unwavering support for Israel.
The No Votes for Genocide campaign is our response to the Democratic Party. It calls on voters to withhold their support from Vice President Kamala Harris and other Democratic candidates unless they commit to halting the shipment of weapons to Israel and advocating for a permanent ceasefire. This is a chance to forge a coalition that challenges the status quo and demands a new foreign policy rooted in peace and equality.
We call on all who believe in these principles to stand with us. We cannot in good conscious not do everything we can to pressure the political establishment to change course and end its support for genocide. No matter the outcome for the election, join us to start laying the groundwork for a more just future.
DEMANDS
- Support a permanent ceasefire in Gaza and the West Bank.
- Immediate and unrestricted entry of humanitarian aid to Gaza.
- Commit to oppose legislation that provides additional military and financial aid to Israel.
- End the escalation of conflicts in the Middle East. Instead, use U.S. influence through financial packages, sanctions, and votes in international bodies to work towards establishing a single, democratic state in the region currently known as Palestine/Israel, where all people have equal rights.
