The Tenant Union Workshop
Discussion
- Kayla lives in an apt complex with ~50 people
- @Adri_Martinez : would sharing online cast a wider net than we are ready for? Also suspicious of it catching neg. attention
- @Tanner : should push out workshop at least a month. Sympathetic to hesitancy to post online but for doing it
- @HipGnosis : agree should post online, should try a combo of just flying & target social media ads. Should schedule events with softer dates
- @Turcotte : Mid-June sounds realistic. Need to canvass at least three time for people to come out and get a feel for reception
- @Bozzii : seconds mid-june because of spinach riots event
- @Tanner : Only have a Spanish Flyer if we can guarantee there will be a translator at the event
- @chima : Between 14th and 21th
- @Veewok and @Englishpete08 : have a preference for 21
- Unheard in video and to those online but discussion about the 21 being close to Juneteenth celebrations
- @chima : can use celebration to tell people to come to our event
- @HipGnosis : move it to the 28th and advertise week before?
- @Turcotte : won’t work way we think it will, keep it 21st tell people to come to our event before/after whatever celebrations they have planned
- @Adri_Martinez : annual Stockton Juneteenth is on the 15th
- @chima : 21st it is
- @HipGnosis : try both flyers and social media, this event we could try just flyers and see how many people we bring and next time try social media
- @chima : targeted social media was happening either way, the question had more to do with posting on reddit
Outcome of Discussion
- Move it June 21
- Confirm Spanish translator for event
- Translate Flyer
- Canvassing Dates
– May 15 5-7
– May 18 10-12
– May 19 5-7

Outcome of Discussion
- Working Meeting - Creating Workshop May 8 6-8

Summary
- @Bozzii : we should be doing this. Talked to WFWA and they’re doing a how to organize event that could be helpful
- @HipGnosis : skillshare
- @Englishpete08 : capacity in May is low but will try look through and help with edits

Vote
@chima moves to give NSVDSA permission to put WCU’s logo on the flyers
- 9 yes & 1 didn’t vote
Discussion
- @HipGnosis : they decided that it will happen at UC Merced
- @Tanner : Feels like he doesn’t know anything about it. What it is, where its happening, the point of it is other than vaguely organizing working class?
- @HipGnosis : no decisions happen in meetings
- @chima : discussion panels are happening for sure
- @HipGnosis : bar for having them put our logo on the flyer is so low that its almost trivial
- @Englishpete08 : seconds what Tanner was saying of not understanding what’s going on

Discussion
- @Tanner : occupation of Alcatraz relevant because Leonard Peltier was recently pardoned
- @HipGnosis : Why literals always lose and Oligarchs & Corporate power vs the people instead of cultural issues
- @Englishpete08 : seconds what @HipGnosis said. Connects really well with medicare for all discussion and gets ball rolling for why Dems don’t actually try to implement stuff like medicare for all.
- @Adri_Martinez : when will it be released [July] so we can have it coincide with something. Indigenous issues and the origins of this country
- @Englishpete08 : learned about history in Stockton that took place July 4th in the 70s. Related to police brutality towards Hispanic population. If we want to tie it into something relevant maybe this is an option
- @Bozzii : Something relevant to post date would be nice. Have been having a lot of conversation about the issues with our education system.
- @Joanna : communicating with non leftists about issues
- @chima : [in response] should we make that an educational point for ourselves
- @Adri_Martinez : can go with the AEIOU stuff
- @Kayla_Park : Indigenous issues, communicating with non-leftists, and why the left always lose
- @Turcotte : why liberals always lose because in a few months we’re going to have dems capitulating over and over. We’re going to gain a lot of sympathy because people are becoming increasingly angry
- @chima : people don’t know about successful revolution/history to celebrate here in America. People are going to start running for midterms and we’ve seen glimpses of people going towards the right direction
- [Went around the room again and everyone agreed Why liberals Always Lose]
- @Turcotte : people are disillusioned here in Stockton so people will actually care and read it
Outcome of Discussion
- WCU pick: Why Liberals Always Lose
Vote
@chima moved to have “Why Liberals Always Lose,” as our next article topic
